Activities in Alert Bay
Visitors from around the world come to Alert
Bay to enjoy
the native history and culture, the
magnificent scenery and wildlife, and
some of the best salt-water fishing in BC.
As the gateway to Knight and Kingcome inlets
and the Broughton Archipelago, Alert Bay
promises a treasure trove of ecological
adventures. The
Broughton Archipelago is well-known for excellent fishing, deep-sea diving,
kayaking and whale-watching. The world-renowned Robson Bight
Ecological Reserve, a favoured rubbing spot
for killer whales, is just 30 minutes away
by boat.
Cormorant Island boasts an extensive walking
and biking trail system which has been
developed to allow for a more intimate
experience of our natural habitat. You
can beach-comb for driftwood and other lost treasures washed ashore by
the
Pacific ocean currents. Watch eagles and other birds, and at low tide check the tidal
pools for starfish, crabs and other interesting sea life.
Strolling along the waterfront in Alert Bay, you'll find yourself
immersed in all the charms of a quaint west coast community. There are
many historical landmarks and attractions you won't want to miss, such
as the tallest totem pole and the N'amgis Burial Ground.
Visit the library/museum and cultural centre
to learn about our native history and culture and don't forget to
peruse the galleries and shops of local artists.
There's
lots to see and do in Alert Bay, but above all, please enjoy our
hospitality at Deserving Time B&B.
